Yoga Nidra

As my first official blog posting on this site, I'd like to offer you a gift. The gift of relaxation through Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is a yogic technique, often referred to as "Yogic Sleep", which encourages deep relaxation by bringing one to the state between awake and asleep. Yoga Nidra has many benefits which may include relieving stress, improved memory and brain function, releasing undesired patterns or habits, healing past trauma or illness and improved sleep patterns. These are just a few of the many benefits that can come from a regular, full Yoga Nidra practice.

Below is a short sample of Yoga Nidra for you to get a taste of it and hopefully receive some of it's benefits. Please make sure you are in a comfortable, reclined position that you can stay in for the duration before beginning the recording (approx. 13 minutes). If you're on the floor, make sure you have something for under your knees if your back gets sore and something small for under your head if needed to keep your neck neutral. Though it's called Yogic Sleep, the most benefit comes from staying awake and focused yet still and relaxed. Attempt this to the best of your ability and if you do need to move, do so slowly and if you do fall asleep, you probably needed it.

I offer Yoga Nidra workshops and add it during Savasana in some of my other classes. I have also incorporated it into private sessions and would be happy to create one specifically for you. Contact me to learn more about private sessions.
