Re-Member

Years ago, I heard the idea that "remember" has an alternate meaning that could be seen as the opposite of dismember. To put back together. Re-member. I appreciate this idea along with the definition of recalling or holding in mind. It also reminds me of the meaning of Yoga - Union. Some would say that it is to unite and others would say that it is seeing that there is no separation.

The reason for the photo of Anjali Mudra, above, is the coming together of the left and the right at heart center. I see this as duality or opposites, meeting at the heart, where there is not as much judgement of the "two." Simply connection... union. Yoga.

This Mudra is said to be a way to calm the nervous system while connecting the two sides of the body and hemispheres of the brain. With that calm, there can be more clarity for setting intentions, offering greetings or gratitude and connecting to heartfelt desires. Or simply to take a moment to connect to breath and Heart.

What will you re-member for yourself... of yourself? Of others? Where will you notice Union?

Play with this Mudra... Yoga for the hands. You can spread the fingers or gather them together. As well as have more or less space between the palms. Tell me what you feel. Re-member.
